How to Create Your Own Tshirt

If you have really small business and have no need to order custom tshirts in bulk, you may want to create your own tshirt to wear at your place of business or to give away.

A Computer, Graphics Program Printer and Transfer Paper Is All You Need

It is fun and easy to create your own t-shirt. In order to create your own tshirt at home or small business, all you need is a program on your computer that will allow you to lay out graphics, photos, and text. This is often a program like PictureIt or PhotoDeluxe by Adobe. These programs allow you to start from scratch, and add anything you want to your tshirt design.

Choose the photos, designs, or words that you want, and then create your own customized layout.  With the easy-to-use graphics software programs, layout is simple.  A good graphics design size for a t-shirt is 8 inches by 10 inches because your home printer can handle that size.

Print out as many samples as you need until you are satisfied with the words and graphic design for your own customized tshirt.  Once you have a design that you are happy with, simply print out the design on transfer paper and iron it onto your tshirt.  As you can see, with a computer, graphics program, printer and transfer paper,  you can create your own tshirt in less than an hour!

Custom Tshirt Tips and Tricks

There are special kits that are specially made for people who want to create their own tshirt in this manner. These can be found anywhere paper products are sold.

Each custom package will come with instructions on how to create your own tshirt.  One thing to be sure to remember is that if you are using a clear transfer sheet, you need to flip the image before ironing it on so your custom tshirt design will not be backwards.

Tshirts that have iron-on designs and logos tend to wear out more quickly. To make the iron-on transfer not break up so quickly and last longer, wash the your custom tshirts in the gentle cycle or hand wash them.  Air-drying will also help preserve the image.

Creating More than One Custom Tshirt

You can skip the iron-on process when you create your own tshirt by using an online printing service. This is great if you have to print more than one tshirt, but don’t want to go somewhere to get hundreds printed at a time. Places like Café Press  allow you to create your own tshirt by uploading your design to their website.  They process the design onto the tshirt style, color and size that you specify and then mail the finished product to you.

Through Cafe Press and other services, you can also offer your own designs for sale to the public, as long as you are not breaking any copyright laws.
